Pink Elephant Inspired & Haunted Mansion Vinyl toys....

MONDO TOY POST!

Ok, so I look really Creepy here... Just in time for Halloween! ....Even though 'Bluey' released at last months Mickey's Circus Event at Epcot Center in Florida...I think I was channeling my inner 'Spook' already... ;)

The Finished Turn

I ADORE the Pink Elephants Sequence in Dumbo... ( and I 've heard from a ton of ya'll that feel the same!) It was part of the reason I wanted to be a character artist  - That, and old betty boop cartoons...what a spunky broad!

Oh I get carried away with the packaging... but it so fun to just go nuts on it- after doing so much detail work!

My original turn - 'Bluey' - all sketched out---

Ahhh, My favorite part- and the most challenging! Painting the dancing Elephants soooo teenie Tiny!
They later were set on miniature steel springs inside 'Bluey's' Tummy to create movement like they're dancing....
ooooohhhh Trippy!

This was my favorite part of The Haunted Mansion as a kid....
The Trick was getting this scene to read in a Vinyl! Tricky indeed to squeeze this little lady into the tummy area---
It was  like getting a ship in a bottle. I need smaller hands. ;)

Oh again - getting carried away with the boxes! - gotta have purple right?

So many processes to this one! I think it was one of my most complicated fabrications to date.
I learned how to cast in clear resin ( flames) -
To vacuform a custom plastic bubble for the belly,
and just over all sculpting more than I had on any of my previous art pieces.
Thank you to my husband Ricky Dee for showing me the ropes! - Ahabs Shipyard
My brain is full o' process. bssst. fizzle.pift!

The original turn...

Painting details before the coverplate goes on...

oh process process, My Elf workshop!

And the Electrical... Fishing the wires through the arms to the candles, testing the lighting for the scene....
And That's it Folks! Thanks for stopping by my crazy big blog post-
I tend to post in giant spurts -;) so Check back from time to time for more Toys... soooon!

Leave me a note -Show me your cool Customs n' Art or Just plain keep in touch with me on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram  - links in the side bar...

Till next time!

Travel - Viaggiare - Voyager - Reisen

Going with the Flow....
And that we did - After pushing our trip due to work n' life's little surprises, with no room reservations or train tickets, just a loose plan and some Radiohead tickets we happened on 2 days before we left....We were ready to go! ----Kind of. ;)

It was so awesome, I honestly have culture shock right now -
Our bathrooms are insanely huge here.

We traveled from Rome to Orvieto to Florence to Lucca, Milan to Switzerland through France and on to England. I'll never forget this trip as long as I live. Watching- Listening to Radiohead play in an old Roman Rock Quarry was magical. I want to milk cows in Switzerland and dye my hair blonde.  - - -Beer is always good in the morning. - - -When It smells of pee, don't eat there... and so many other handy dandy European tips for Travel I learned backpacking through fabulous-ness.

Since I am a mutt, and a distinctive blend of Irish, French, Dutch, Cherokee Indian and Honkey - Europe was just like home.... The Italians we're so chill and crazy, You can drink on trains and cut cheese whenever you want. There's history on every corner, and people that speak really loud to you in Italian thinking you'll understand better if they vocalize. hmmm. scusi, poco Italiano.

Heading on up to Switzerland was a different story, where they speak French and German - a sort of Spanglish -so, um Freman.derk. I'm better at French than Italian, so it was easy to ask where the Chinese food restaurants were. Seriously! We stumbled upon the town of Leysin, where there are students from every corner of the globe. Thank you Radiohead for the adventure. We were 4 miles up a mountain- and no way to get home from the concert, until a fabulous German man picked us up in his Audi who worked in the medical industry. hmm.

We didn't want to leave Switzerland. Infact I think I could live there if the exchange rate wasn't so punky. They pour Coca cola into wine glasses, It was hard on Rick.. ;)

But we were off just the same- to England, the a pleasant surprise-- Rick and I hadn't been there in years, and may god it's amazing - London was a blast. They've built so many wonderful structures and taken care of the old. The Thames boardwalk had carnivals and people drinking at pubs everywhere. British peeps were running along the boardwalk, lookin' all fit. It was the first time in England I felt gluttonous for having fish and chips and greasy meat. Bristol was soooo great-hanging out with our new friend Lampie, Thank you for the hospitality, and the best pub dinner on the trip! n' Merci Lola Gil for introducing us to yer hunny bunny.

We tubed it to Heathrow, and weren't' ready to leave. The plane must have known - as we had a big delay and some bad weather was creeping in. We flew home watching a marathon films on our little chair TV's - I swear it looked like we were all being programmed. well, we were. ;) Me with Breakfast at Tiffany's, Brave, and Dinner for Shumucks. It's funny - This was the fist time we got to see the movie, and Rick created many of the Mouseland elements. We're so bad- we rarely watch our handy work in films -unless it's right in our faces. ;)

So yes indeed, this is a snip-et of a Journal of a 3 week trip in the Life of Miss Mindy and her sweetheart man pants, Ricky-Dee.

I was sad to have missed a signing at Disneyland, and the release of a few more creations, but knew I would never leave town because I am an art-oholic. Owning my own business can be trying, as you're always working - even when It's what you love to do! So time off to enjoy, and go seek out where you'd like to show next is a must. I'm looking forward to some fabulous shows over seas and here in the States, and so happy for all the friends we made on the trip. Here's to another go in the future - sooner than later.

I'm so proud to Show you the works I created for
The Wonderground Galleries Grand Opening

at Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort!

The Signing went fabulous, I didn't get too sunburned. ;)
There were tons of great folks, familiar faces, and awesome kiddos to sign toys for...
It was a total pleasure to meet all of the artists who are contributing to the gallery.
It really has some some extremely special one of a kind pieces!

I think all of my artwork is SOLD OUT now! So sadly, you can't go see any of it... wah!
So here's my own online gallery of what I worked on for you to feast your eyes upon.
Both Minnie & Bo Peep are completely scratch built on my new hand casted resin form.
They also are L.E.D lit inside the skirt to reveal a miniature scene.
Yeah man, sanding and creating the contours for these lil darlin's is somethin' else!
Meaning: They take forever, and are filled to the gills with love, craftsmanship, and burning the midnight oil
... I'm sleepy ;)

Rainy Parade...

Merci to all the awesome people I got to meet at Artfest this year!
I felt so welcome, and had such a damn good time...
Sorry it took me so long to post,
I also do animation work (at random), And on top of that...
I currently have a super HUGE secret fine art project which I will reveal in June!
It's special, and exhausting.
I slept for a whole day when I got back from Seattle,
pulse went down to 10 beats, I swear, I'm like a hamster... when I play, I PLAY!
When I sleep. I go unconscious.
-----
A Special thank you to my Collector, Inspirational Speaker, and now awesome pal,
Angi SullinsYou can check out her company with her husband Silas..
HERE - called Duirwaigh.
We were 10 year olds on this trip, and enjoyed every minute of it!
- From rickety Thai food, to gigantic fish faces in Pike place Market,
or boozin' it up at random in the 'bad girls dorm' at the fort. Thank you Angi for kicking my ass to turn in a proposal the day before it was due. Teaching ruled.
-----
And huge hoot and holler to Tracy and Teesha, who put the whole she-bang together!
*Here's to your own creativity on this Rainy Friday dear blog reader*,
I don't even know if people read anymore because of twitter and all that social media crapploa... ha ha ha-;) Cheers to doing what you want, and not letting anyone rain on your parade!
